The airport facilitates numerous direct daily flights from France and offers connections to Thailand, South Africa, and other regional destinations.
Efforts have been focused on upgrading the baggage handling system and increasing capacity through self-service check-in facilities. Twelve of the thirty-plus check-in counters are now equipped with these new technologies.
Gate Technologies AF Ltd has played a pivotal role in these upgrades by fabricating bespoke check-in desks designed to accommodate the “Skydrop” self-service units supplied by the French company Easier.
Working to a concept prepared by the airport management team, GTAFL developed a design that would fit in the existing desk footprint as well as integrate with the “Skydrop” modules which are mounted on the desk front. Desks were fabricated in the UK to a tight programme and then airfreighted to the island to be installed by Equans and their JV partners.
The check-in counters are manufactured in a combination of durable materials in LH / RH configurations and feature a lower section of transaction surface in compliance with French standards to provide improved access for wheelchair users.
Airline equipment including PC, printers, scanners, monitor etc are ergonomically housed on the operator side of the desk.
